Sony NEX style cameras with manual focus lenses

I was wondering if anyone is using manual focus lenses on a NEX 6 or a3000, and if either camera can be set so when you half push the shutter it will activate the focus assist function (where it momentarily zooms in to the subject for fine tuning the focus)?

Unfortunately not. You can use one of the programmable buttons to enable magnification though. At least on the 5N, may be possible on other NEX bodies.

You need phase-detection AF for that so for cameras with only contrast detection it's impossible to put in due to the hardware.

This is true for the NEX-6, too, and I'm pretty sure it can be done on all later cameras. I've got my AEL button programmed for focus magnification, which is really handy.

Can you use the DMF or MF mode? They are pretty slick with the E-mount lenses on the A6000 hybrid focus as it automatically magnifies when you change the focus in those modes. Unfortunately, the converter I just received was not the PK version indicated on the box, so I have not been able to try this out myself on MF lenses.
