This is something that I always strive for

There is a balancing acted when it comes to how and what to process. I always try a stay away from using the sharpening and the clarity sliders as this can have a negative affect on how noise and just as important how the OOF background will appear. The very same can be said with micro contrast and fine contrast adjustments.

Starting off with a image that already has good sharpness and nailed focus can really reduce how much and the appearance of that noise in the image. Once you start to apply sharpening to combat these errors you are then left with using NR to then combat the introduced highlight brought to the already present noise from the captured image.
