In case anyone else is still struggling to find a solution, I seem to have found one for me that didn't require any kind of modifications on my camera. I've owned some Cactus V5's since they came out and that's what I had been attempting to use. I'd been wanting to test out other things as well and since I saw that the Yongnuo flash triggers were pretty cheap, I went ahead and bought some. They worked on the first try and kept on working. I only tested it out for like 10 minutes, but I took at least twenty test shots and it worked every single time. I noticed that it seemed to work without issue until 1/200. After that, the curtain seems to open and close too quickly and half of the image comes out black, so I'll keep researching until I can see if I can get it to work properly at faster shutter speeds as well.
