DxO ONE camera

Just came out, interesting camera, but seeing this DxO score
Camera Database - DxOMark

I can't stop myself thinking: "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"

Bet that 11.9mm fixed focal length lens will be great for portraits and birding!

the DxO score of 85 is with their "Super RAW" format which auto blends four images together. You can achieve the same thing with your Pentax by blending four RAW images in post. The primary advantage of the DxO ONE camera is the ability to shoot those four RAW images in about 1/6th of a second -- something you can't do with a mirror in the way.

Needs specific supporting hardware (ie limited range of iOS devices - iPhone 5/6, iPad), has a flimsy connector, is only available in the US, is expensive.

Not interested. My RX100 is safe. FWIW, like many Sonys, it can also do different forms of image combining in camera.

Price point is a bit too high for my taste, but the concept is spot on. I do worry about the connector too. You drop it, gets snapped off, and mess up your phone???

I agree with rawr that the connector is too flimsy. The power connector on an iPhone was never designed for this. It was primarily made to connect power charging cord and to connect the phone to consoles where the phone is resting on a surface of some sort. Did Apple engineer the connector to take repeated torquing, even gentle torque? I kind of doubt it but who knows.

I'm sure this little camera will find its market but it may be a niche market. Let the fans gather together and share ideas. I won't be one of them.
