Does anyone here own the XF70-300? I know it's a consumer grade zoom, but it's a focal range that interests me and I'm wondering if anyone can advise me on it.

Sorry I don't have the 70-300. If you can survive without the 200-300mm range, I can highly recommend the XF 55-200. I find it sharp and reponsive, and
so does Christopher Frost:

Thank you for that suggestion. It's actually a better zoom range for me.
And it's less expensive than the 70-300.

My understanding is that, despite it's specs suggesting it's very much a "kit" level telephoto, the 55-200mm is a high quality lens with good IQ even wide open.

I will have to see if my pusher keeps one in stock. I suspect they do. They are really good about letting me take gear out for a few hours at a time to try before I buy.
I'm conflicted between the 50-140 and something a bit longer.
I've got a couple of months to cogitate on it. Between buying the X-T5, Viltrox and a few accessories and finding myself having to build a new work$$$$$tation, I did a good job of emptying the well.
Thanks for jumping in, I appreciate it.

Took a little trip around with the X-Pro3 this afternoon. Stopped at one of the places I like to photograph and took some of the old button factory. They would harvest clams from the near by Fox river and press out as many pearl buttons as they could from each shell.
