Canon SL1 + 2 Lenses + Printer + SD + Bag for $449

In the off chance that someone here knows someone looking to get started with an affordable DSLR kit, this deal I came across is really quite good. It literally contains everything you need to get started with digital photography (camera, lenses, memory card, bag, post processing software) and a free printer with 50 sheets of 13x19 photo paper on top of that.

You get all this for just $449 after a $350 mail-in rebate and $300 instant rebate:
  • Canon EOS Rebel SL1 DSLR Camera
  • EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens
  • EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 III Lens
  • Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Professional Photo Inkjet Printer
  • Canon SG-201 Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss, 13x19", 50 Sheets
  • Corel Digital Organization Creativity Software Kit, Includes PaintShop Pro X7, AfterShot Pro 2, Nuance OmniPage 18, FileCenter Standard 7
  • Lexar 32GB Class 10, 200x Platinum II Series Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Memory Card
  • Canon 100-ES EOS Shoulder Bag (Black)
Canon EOS Rebel SL1 DSLR with 18-55mm & 75-300mm & Bag W/Special Promo Bundle 8575B055 Z

Pentax just needs to make a deal like this! The K-S1 would be a perfect candidate.

If this was a Pentax camera the assumption would be:
1) Pentax sales are slowing
2) Ricoh is exiting the camera business
3) The camera is a failure
4) A new model is imminent
5) Pentax is Dooommmmed (c)

But since it is a Canon I guess it is just a good deal.

haha.. well one is getting quantity not quality with this deal. It is a bunch of shovelware (were it software) tacked onto a fairly decent, yet aging camera.

I would not say it's very aged, as same year as K-50. Compare to K-50, SL1 makes great (if not the best) introductory dslr for kids with its ergonomics.
I hope sl1 will drop more soon because I need a gift for 10yo girl.

Both cameras are aging at this point.

That doesn't mean it is useless, just that this is a camera with some years on it and appears to be pushed out in bundle form to get rid of a lot of large stock stuff. I actually wanted one a couple of years ago just to throw magic latern on it and play with video production.

For a 10 year old it is beyond great. The plus is it is small.. great for 10 year old girl hands. And it is a Canon so she won't be wanting to use your lenses... in case you were like that with this child.

Exactly, the shape and weight is great for kids hands! I almost gave her, 9 yo, white K-50 early this year, but changed my mind just in time. She is all about my sl1, why do you think I want her to have own one? She can leave mine alone. The rest is parent's headache
