non video camera

hi i am looking at for a new camera (Nikon d750-d810 or cannon eos 5d mark iii). i have noticed that they all shot video and in the reviews they make quite a big thing about the video. my question is, dose any one make a good quality camera that dose not shot video?

Nikon made the Df a few years ago, and guess what? It got heat for not having a video mode, because there really was no reason for it not to. Since modern sensors are designed for live view, they inherently also support video.

Why not get a camera and just not use the video?

It would cost money to not include video... exceptions in the development, manufacturing, and QC processes are not cheap to implement.

Even for non-video enthusiasts, there is an upside to having some video functionality... The ability, through software, to extract individual frames for use as images...

You could get a 645D. That camera doesn't shoot video. A lot of Leicas don't shoot video either, I believe.

This issue did come up once... when Pentax released the K-7 to replace the K20D, the sensor used in the K-7 was actually a little bit of a step backwards from the K20D's in terms of measurables for photo image quality. The K20D did not shoot video, and Pentax used a slightly inferior sensor in order to get video into the K-7. Fortunately, we are no longer plagued by these decisions.

I have the video button on my K-01 re-assigned for another function, so I don't inadvertently start recording.
