Oh no they Didn't ( Sony-E to Leica M AF Adapter)

Vintage LBA sufferers do not read. This Adapter Gives Manual-Focus M Lenses Autofocus on Sony Cameras

You can buy PK and m42 to Leica-M adapters and they should work in unison with this

Tar and feather futures are guaranteed for the next little while, it seems.

Leicaphiles still have plenty of tar and feathers left over from the Konica Hexar RF inquisition

Does this new adapter provide teleconversion, or reduce quality via glass elements?

From a cursory glance at the design, I would say no to both. It is basically an empty motorized helicoid extension tube.

Yeah... it was a rhetorical question aimed at pathdoc This new thingamajig is not much like the Pentax 1.7x TC.

Anyway, I saw the original post just before I went to bed, and I immediately thought of you and another Leica shooter I know of online. Assuming this thing works reasonably well, with no serious technical or mechanical drawbacks, do you think this is of more interest to Sony owners wanting to use Leica glass or Leica users wanting to use a Sony body? I would think the former, but what do I know?

To make it an TC was the only option for Pentax as the lens moved further out from the camera with the adapter, otherwise it would not be able to focus on infinity. And Pentax also wanted to support heavy lenses so moving the whole lens back and forth would not work very well.

But having cameras with shorter register distance make some stuff much easier to do.
I suggested an adapter like this years ago when there was rumors of a new mirrorless Pentax system, but then K-01 came instead.

As the whole lens is moving, I guess it can also be used to focusing closer.
