Yes, wow!

It may be time to move my two D800E. I'll keep my D810 for a while longer though.

As an owner of the D4s I really don't see any dramatic reason to upgrade to eh D5. The extra -2 ev of AF would be nice, and the extra AF points would come in handy. But at high ISOs the D4s and D3s are still extremely good cameras, I rarely go over ISO 25,600. I hardly need any higher ISOs than that with the fast glass I work with. I'll probably upgrade by the time we hit the D7..and by then the resolution ought to be higher.

Have you checked the retail price of the D5 in Australia? $10k is a lot to swallow.

I'm also rather surprised that the D5 high ISO looks no different than a D610 or D750. And with really ugly shadow banding visible in some of those high ISO D5 shots too.

I agree. I wouldn't have posted those 51K plus iso shots, except to say that it isn't really very usable. Feels like a post by a man with amazing glass in a unique location and for someone like him, the D5 probably makes sense. On the other hand, for most non-sports/wildlife shooters, it is probably overkill.

I was really only joking.

I'm almost broke these days and will be hanging on to what I've got for as long as I can, but if I did decide to sell up, I'd be more inclined to buy a 645Z. (after reviewing the past 4 years of pictures I've shot I'd probably be better off taking up basket weaving)

With the difference in price over my Toy Camera Fuji X10, I could make that same trip and post my shots in the Toy Camera thread...but I'm pretty sure they would not be as amazing!

Regards!

Next Adelaide Pentaxian meet, I might bring my two 645Z cameras..though If I really want you to go broke, I could also bring my Leica S2.

Those photos were inspirational enough to get some long glass and start doing wildlife photography.

Well, if nothing else it will help the sorts of people who want to hand-hold a Bigma in fading light.

Only kidding. This thing has three million ISO for the same reason your average family car is redlined at 180kph - so that less startling levels of performance can be handled with ease. But I still don't need all that, and I still won't be buying one. To each their own.

For that price I could have my dream Pentax lens lineup (except DA 560)...

You have way too much gear, Digitalis!
So I hear you will soon have a garage sale?

Too much? I prefer people who don't settle for enough.

I'll get around to organizing one when an oil sheikh is in town.
