Well, if the OP is comparing video then I agree. I just missed it I guess. I thought he was comparing still images.

Heck he could buy a new K3ii, $690 (or K3 for even less), and a new Sony Action Cam Mini (HDR-AZ1) for another $150, pocket the $150 in savings over the 6300 and have a much better "system". This entire thread became silly in a hurry IMHO.

Yeah, newer cameras that cost two to three times as much as the K50 may have nicer automated settings, expensive point-n-shoots. Big surprise. Who'da thunk it?

You asked " But why someone would buy a 1000 dollar camera (currently 150 dollars more than a K3 II and 350 dollars more than a K3) to shoot in auto modes is beyond me." Was it a rhetorical question?
Maybe he didn't buy it for shooting stills. But mostly for shooting video.

It was a question in the context of this thread. I know fairly few people who buy an ILC mainly to shoot video.

Can you link me to some of the videos that you personally have shot with your Sony cameras? Because to me, doing video well is a lot harder than doing still photography well. And the issue is not the frame rates or even the codecs as much as it is the importance of stabilization, sound, and lighting, combined with a very time intensive experience with regard to editing.

Anyway, if you are shooting a lot of great video, more power to you. It is beyond me (and probably this thread theme, as well).

Stills, not video. Why spend $1000...it is small, super fast FPS for action shots (think kids, boats, etc.), did not buy it to specifically use it in auto mode, but starting out, that's where he is. I have just taught him the exposure triangle, advantage of shutter, aperature priority, using the focus points, etc. So I am sure he will venture beyond auto mode. He is also purchasing lightroom to do post editing.

I do shoot family event videos on them. If I were to post a link to a video I would likely get some Brand Hooligans disliking my kids music performance videos out of spite.
