Hasselblad to announce a FF mirrorless camera

Hasselblad rumored to announce a new camera next week | Photo Rumors

Above website declares the camera, shown in a photo, will be announced on June 22. Hasselblad will join Leica and Sony as mfr of FF mirrorless cameras. I don't see anywhere in the report with regards to what lens mount will be used.

Im betting on it being a rebasged sony with a rediculus price tag. Theyve rebadged sony cameras before and sold them at higher prices.

The same site is reporting that it will be a medium format camera. The only facts known are that there will be an announcement on 22 June, and there will be a new Hasselblad. Everything else in the public domain is speculation.

There is indeed some teasing from Hasselblad.

There is also the rumour of a Hasselblad-branded Moto Mod camera for the recently announced Lenovo Moto Z

Ah, so they mean 645 full frame, not 35mm full frame!
I guess this is the only direction that Hasselblad can even go, since Pentax 645D and Z have stormed the MF market in the recent years

Nope. Hasselblad has stopped all new model collaborations with Sony, the last of them being the 2015 Asia-only-release "Lusso", based on the Sony A7R... The Sony collaborations were largely a failure and embarrassment for Hasselblad (they barely acknowledge their existence, these days). I have the HV, which is based on the Sony A99... I picked it up at B&H when the last few were being sold off at sub-Sony prices. Lovely camera, but while the body is much heavier duty and better finished than the A99, the internals are pretty much stock Sony Anyway, I think Hasselblad has learned its lesson...

the hv failed only because it was absurdly overpriced.

the rumor was that hassy got to cherry-pick the best zooms of the lot for the hv, which certainly could have been worth a premium, just not where they had it priced.

i remember when b&h was blowing it out, i don't recall ever seeing it go beneath the price of the a99/lens combo... that would have been a bargain.

And I saw this somewhere in the article ...

Hasselblad will announce a new mirrorless medium format camera that will have the same 50MP sensor/platform as the Hasselblad will announce a new mirrorless medium format camera that will have the same 50MP sensor/platform as the CFV-50C digital back. The new camera will be compatible with the existing Hasselblad medium format lenses.. The new camera will be compatible with the existing Hasselblad medium format lenses.

You can read how they tuned the sensor specs for use in that digital back which is hard to say if they're going to do the same with this new camera. And supporting exiting medium format lenses sounds like it might be something new.

New hassle mirrorless medium format. Gamechanger???

Hassie are announcing their new camera tomorrow, and leaked price is $8995. If they have the right technology this could be a real game changer. Interesting times...
