No other camera does that... I don't say we have to buy theses, but in term of innovation for that Canon has clearly done something that is light year ahead in advance of the competition and much more innovative. What is 399 AF points compared to millions? That's nothing ! And what to say of AF video capabilities that don't work any more at f/8 or f/11 ? The Canon solution is much better here.
Sure, but there's a important caveat to this dual pixel AF: it only works in LV and is useless with the OFV... And when someone buy a high end DSLR instead of a mirrorless, it's probably because they want to use the OFV. If not, why bother buying a DSLR ?

But then Sony is even not part of the equation. And when you read the detail of Nikon AF sensor, many are limited to f/4, while all Canon AF point support up to f/8. It look like Nikon has more AF point on its very high end models in OVF mode while the Nikon has much better video but both I think are great.

So this is really a matter if video or action/sport the priority.

kinda useless in normal operation as CarlJF stated dual pixel its only available in live view mode, and another disadvantage is that third party lenses and canons older lens inventory will often overshoot the point or even refuse to work which is why canon started making lenses with stepper motors for more precise acceleration deceleration control

its kinda ironic that canon has developed the best AF system, for mirrorless operation, which is why samsung are using it in the s7

Your point was they didn't innove funny

Let check they have great FF/APSC camera on high end side, they have feature no other have. They have good still and video AF so what? Criticism is easy I'd say.
