What makes this strange rather than an awesome sale?

Nothing magic i guess, only the desperate need to sale for nikon.
Remember their sales droped about -30% in T1/2016 whilst total DSLR sales dropped around -20%.

A good deal on a great camera. A D750 with a couple of the F/1.8G prime lenses and you have a really good kit for the money.

I'll pay attention to nikon when they figure out where to properly place an ISO button so that you don't have to takes the camera of of your face to use it... Thats about like putting the gear shifter in the car behind the driver's seat...
