Lens Turbo II with Sony QX1?

Hello,

Considering my Black Friday shopping list now. I realized that I need a low-profile shooting tool for my specific purpose. I am considering the combination of the Mitakon Lens Turbo II for PK mount and a Sony body. The primary lens that I would use with the Lens Turbo would probably be FA43 Ltd, and I am debating between selling my a5000 body and get a QX1 or keep my a5000 body. Any comments?

Sincerely

P.S. I would be shooting trains at train stations, and I am trying to avoid unwanted attention (look amateur) however large aperture do come handy from time to time. That's my motive for this combo. My other lens options might include Super-Tak 1:2/35, Ricoh XR 35 f2.8, Tamron Adaptall-2 02B, Lomo Volna 50/1.5, and SMCK 50/2, but FA43 is my main candidate as it is pancky.

if you'll be using Pentax lenses primarily, why not a Pentax body?

I have a Pentax body, but it's a DSLR and tends to draw unwanted attention (and sometimes even trouble). Usually when you photo in train stations in China, you would easily get away with a small point and shoot or mirrorless (i.e. Coolpix A, a5000) but DSLR increases the chance of getting in trouble (though in theory photoing in train stations are allowed).

a5000 is what I already have, but I am considering selling it and get a QX1 if I am upgrading my phone this Black Friday.

I have never used either camera. However what I have read about the QX-1 is favorable. It seems to have the same sensor as the a5000 and it does seem like you could make it less obtrusive but at the same time it isn't much different than the a5000.

If stealth is important the ability to split the unit into a screen (phone) and lens/sensor package fits right in. What I have read makes me think a smaller Sony af lens would be better if splitting the phone away from the lens. Ergonomics of holding a phone rather than a camera body - particularly with an adapted FA 43 on a lens turbo seem questionable.

Personally sticking with the a5000 seems better but I'm not on the ground so I don't know how much the ergonomics should take a back seat to stealth here.

I do have the Sony 16-50 kit zoom, and I would probably keep it even if I decide to sell my a5000 for QX1.

A problem with QX1 is that the marketing department of Sony decided to remove M mode, keeping only P, Tv, and Av (better than their QX100 which has only P and Av), and the only to get M is to use a lens with aperture ring and set the camera to Tv mode. That's my reason for the FA43 + Lens Turbo combo.

OK, so QX1 has no focus peaking and does not seem to have focus enlargement, problem solved.
Sticking to a5000, and ordered a Lens Turbo II from Taobao as the November sale in China happens a week earlier than here.
Will report back.

I occasionally use the base model QX,...QX10, its a discreet little "spy" camera....look at your phone on the table and point it over your shoulder and SHOOT!
