Fascinating! But the dimensions make absolutely no sense.

That "387 mm" lens has a rear element that's 130 mm (5 inches!) in diameter and a length of 679 mm (over 2 feet!).

I'd bet that Sony is obfuscating the intended format and that every number should be divided something like 4 to 10.

Cox in "Photographic Optics" ( my version is of 1974),
gives a good description of it, showing the concept of a film plate as a "spherical cap" with "astigmatic surface".
where the diameter of the sphere is related to the Petzval number.
He gives diagrams of simple lenses - Cooke triplet and -simple Petzval double meniscus.
