Huh, would not want Nkon to nosedive. Even if I’m using Pentax gear, it is tood to have big companyes going head to head against Sony. Too bad that it is not really up there. Too much gas at once makes trouble. I can see the potential of mirrorless system, and why to go there. But this was bad way and bad marketing too. Makes K-01 look better thou.

And this, boys and girls, this ENTIRE fiasco, is why I want Pentax to just shut their mouths, stick with what they know, and quietly release good, reliable gear. Because as DOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED as Pentax has always been, it's not impossible that this little adventure could end up DOOOOOOOOOOMing Nikon. Minolta, you are quite possibly about to have company in the photographic afterlife.
That seems incredibly hyperbolic.

This is body generation 1 of FF MILC for Nikon. Certainly you also didn't scream 'sky is falling' when Sony launched the A7 and eventually got out of SLTs?

When the A7 was launched in 2013, Sony had 5 lenses to launch with it (24-70mm F4, 28-70mm F3.5-5.6, 70-200mm F4, 35mm F2.8, and 55mm F1.8), as well as 15 lenses on a roadmap to be released by sometime in 2015 (within 2 years), and they offered an A to E adapter.

The A7 body itself had a single card slot, limited controls, and a limited AF system. It was priced at 1700 USD body only. Sounds familiar huh?

Sony then released the A7 II in 2015 and kept the A7 as a lower tier.

Nikon is playing a similar playbook. But instead of going for A7 level specs they went for A7 2.5ish level specs. In 1-2 years we could see the Z6/Z7 mk1 end up as a lower tier while a mk2 arrives.

And they aren't leaving F mount or DSLRs in the meantime.. I don't think there is any reason to worry about Nikon. Even with a looming Canon FF MILC competitor. You can be certain they'll also have limited native lenses available at launch with feature decisions that will upset some (the loud squeaky wheels online).

Any more than that is fan fiction.

Ugh. YouTube gasbags. 20 minutes of video verbiage that could be covered by 1 paragraph of text.

Best to wait until end Sept, when regular photogs are able to use the camera, and will start reporting.
I do wonder if such people have any significant impact on buying decisions, let alone design. They are probably considered in a marketing and promotions strategy (in a negative, as well as positive sense, possibly more so) but in the political world their impact is considered important only in mobilising small but critical numbers of people.

Like you, I tend to listen to people who take photos for a living, rather than those who make YouTube videos for click counts.

Look at the performance of the new S line (Z mount) lenses. That's why they cost more..

Only primes seems to be greatly better. Zoom is not that muc better, especially @ 70 mm.
But those primes needed to be updated too..
