As per the user manual
Minolta X-370 instruction manual, user manual, PDF manual, free manuals Quote: Power: Two 1.5v alkaline-manganese (LR44: Everready A-76 or equiv.), two 1.55v silver-oxide (SR44: Eveready S-76, EPX-76 or quiv.), or one 3v lithium (CR-1/3N) cell(s) power both auto exposure control and manual operation; main switch with indication for off or on; mode LED blinks when cells approach exhaustion; no LEDs light and shutter will not release when voltage is too low for proper operation.
Possibly the particular camera in question has a problem. Avoid the item. These cameras are not particularly rare. You'd probably be better off getting a X-570 anyway. I'm a long time Minolta user.
