Canon EOS M3 (or M6) + 22mm lens

Does anybody have experience with this combo? I am looking for a compact street camera. New GR III is too expensive and doesn't have an articulated screen. Canon M3 with 22 mm seems to be compact enough. Used M3 + used 22mm may be bought for 400+: cheaper than Sony 1" or Ricoh GRII. What about lens sharpness and camera low ISO performance?

Aren’t some of ‘last year’s’ 1” zoom cameras in about the same price range.

That seems a pretty viable alternative, too...

You may consider a Sony a6000 (aps-c) and 20mm 2.8 lens. It’s very compact and delivers excellent IQ, it won’t deliver the same lowlight performance as a Pentax KP, but what does? I’m not sure you’ll get it as cheap as the Canon, since the 20mm lens doesn’t seem to be plentiful on the used market. I have this combo and use it when I need to have a pocketable camera.

I do, as a matter of fact, I just bought the combo (M6, EF-M 22mm f2 lens in transit). I always loved the DA 21mm f3.2 in Pentax, bought it twice, sold it twice too. I told myself that if am going to purchase that damn lens that has to be paired with a smallish camera with a selfie screen that is nice for walk around, travel and can take family/life snaps. Canon's dual pixel AF is speedy for my need (as a dad photographer).

I was able to try the combo from a local store and I was smitten by the size, handling of the camera and the lens itself.

OK thanks, may I expect some additional feedback with your impression when it arrives? How big is the difference between IQ of M6 vs M3?

Is there some vignetting? Does it need the hood to control the flare? If yes, which hood? Some photo samples would be nice to see.

I bought an M3 with a 15-45mm lens and a viewfinder not long ago. Then bought the 22mm f/2 but haven't used that one yet. I like how small the camera is although I wish it was a little taller. Was also considering A6000 but they are usually more expensive and if I remember correctly the lenses for them are also more expensive. M3 kit used cost me $300 which I think is a very good price, 22mm f/2 cost me a $100 which is also good imo for a prime lens. The wide angle 11-22mm will cost me about as much as Sigma 10-20mm for Pentax did, which is around $300. When I have images with the 22mm I'll post them here.
