It's interesting to see how his industry (lenses) copes with the market crashing. Their demand you can see in the CIPA graphs is the same as the fall in camera sales, so he, Tamron, Tokina and others are really fighting for their survival.

But he's backing this L mount rather than Nikon Z or Canon R, again because that's what his Foveon cameras will be using. If he had shareholders this probably wouldn't happen because it doesn't make sense, but it's still a family owned business.
