The m43 mount is oversized, how much harm can 1.4mm do? The old Panasonic GH2 multiaspect sensor was 23.5 mm GH2: Detailed Diagram of Multi-Aspect Sensor: Micro Four Thirds Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review
That is even more than 1.4.

Speculations again, this time from the guy who posted on Digital Photography Review forum. The GH2 used 4,608 x 3,456 pixels in 4:3 mode and 4,976 x 2,800 pixels in 16:9 mode.

Panasonic DMC-GH2 Review | Digital Photography Review

That means 4,976 x 3,456 effective pixels or 18.3mm x 13mm, i.e. a diagonal of 22.8mm, not 23.5mm.

Also. can you post a link to a 4/3" surveillance camera? I have not found a single one. Even though they have marked several 4/3 sensors for that applikation.

I ask again. How many 4/3” surveillance cameras have you seen? Or type 1.4...

First, Sony IMX492 is not only meant for surveillance but also for factory automation cameras and industrial cameras.

Second, I don't know squat about surveillance cameras (or industrial cameras for that matter) but I know a bit more about lenses. Take the Zeiss lenses for automated imaging for instance:

ZEISS Lenses for Automated Imaging

Their Dimension lenses 'are designed for image sensors up to a size of 4/3”'. They are 'used in security and monitoring applications, quality control, traffic monitoring, recycling processes'.

It therefore appears there is more in the surveillance area than crappy CCTV equipment.
