The new Fuji mirrorless X-S10 challenges the Pentax KP

The new Fuji model now sports modern controls on top instead of the old-fashioned shutter speed wheel, has a built-in flash, has an articulating rear screen, 5-axis IBIS, uses a 26mp CMOS APS-C sensor of BSI design for low noise at higher ISO instead of the Pentax accelerator (as I suspect the K-3 III will have in addition to the accelerator), AF down to -6 EV with 425 selectable points covering nearly the entire frame and 8 FPS burst capability, and an advanced video system. All this and much more in an even slimmer body, otherwise about the same dimensions (the height of the KP is an exaggerated number due to its flash housing coming to a point), and weighing just 16.5 oz. (loaded and ready?) compared to the KP's 24.8 oz. The VF is of course an EVF- with 100% coverage, but a magnification of just 0.62x compared to 0.95x for the KP. Fuji also makes a point of mentioning its full-size right handle, though to me it looks rather odd on such a slim design, but it might satisfy those who want this type of hold. There is no additional battery grip for this design, and it will only delver about 100 shots less than the KP can deliver on a single charge. Cost- $999 USD at B&H.

There are two kit lenses offered, both faster than the Pentax kit lenses- the smaller: 18-55mm f/2.8-4 with silent AF motor- no WR mentioned @ $400 additional, or a 16-80mm f/4 having WR construction @ $500 additional. There is no mention of the camera body having WR construction.

The Fuji's EVF has a magnification of .93x, which is .62x in 35mm equivalence.

The KP's OVF has a magnification of .95x, which is .63x in 35mm equivalence.

Fuji, known for their retro-inspired MILCs, releases a body that looks similar to a conventional modern DSLR.

Pentax, which markets conventional modern DSLRs, releases the retro-inspired KP.

Three things I consider essential are (1) good low-light performance, (2) IBIS, and (3) good weather sealing. The Pentax KP (and K-70) meet all three requirements, whereas the Fuji X-S10 only meets the first two. That's a big failure from my perspective.

The excuse given on the Fuji forums is along the lines of "what do you expect for such an inexpensive body". Well, I expect it to have weather sealing, like the LESS expensive Pentax offerings.

Isn't this odd? I mean, a VF magnification of APS-C DSLR cameras are not given in a FF scale- so just to confuse people shopping amongst APS-C alternatives, evidently in the case of mirrorless APS-C cameras then a FF scale is used!
