K&F Pro M42 adapter works perfectly fine with my copy of the lens. No modification was needed.

To illustrate the problem if you have the type of adapter with the internal flange and the later model lens with the tab/cam and aperture simulator. Indicated with arrows in the photos below The lens will not screw into the adapter to push in the pin or have the correct flange to sensor distance.

If the adapter lacks the internal flange - no problem. If the lens lacks the tab/cam and simulator - no problem. The eight element lens should not have this cam being made years before this design addition.

Simple solution: Find an adapter without the internal flange. No need to commit a crime and butcher a lens

I mounted it with my K&F adapter and used it a couple of weeks ago. Nice pictures. The only difficult was the focus ring gets a little hard to work moving toward infinity.

Anyone else have this problem?

Probably the grease is dried out and accumulated at one end of the focus movement. A Cleaning Lube and Adjustment probably wouldn't hurt.
