That's a very intricate bricklaying job on that building behind the bus, Ed. Is this unique?

It is historic, this is part of the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, a very historic "street" in the Bronx (in the 1900's the Bronx was for the rich; by 1960's well, the poor got pushed off Manhattan and into the South Bronx/Western Queens (where you'll find one of the biggest housing projects in the USA - Astoria Projects)...

Lehman College Art Gallery: Architecture/Grand Concourse

Stretching northward some 4-1/2 miles from 138th Street to Mosholu Parkway, the Grand Concourse is a boulevard long associated with elegance and style in the Bronx. Constructed by the French-born engineer Louis Risse, the Grand Boulevard and concourse (its official name) is reminiscent of the broad expanse of the Champs Elysee in Paris. The Grand concourse was officially opened to traffic on November 25, 1909.

I really like the colours in your images, Ed. In particular, the photo of the chap with a coffee cup in his hand has a very film-like feel to it. I wonder, how much of this is due to the light in your part of the world, the specific lenses, raw converter + input profile, and/or post-processing. Would you care to share?

First, thank you kindly for this comment. These 2 Minolta Macro lenses colours on the Sony Alphas are always very vibrant; while not done in these samples, I sometimes have to take the saturation slide into the negative (-2 at most). I love these lenses.

I shoot RAW and PP in Capture One. My usual touches are simple and subtle; just trying to get a bit of pop and to mimic as much as possible the original image.

The bloke with the coffee cup... I really dig this image myself (not trying to pat myself in the back, I just really liked it from the moment I saw it on the camera's LCD). This shot was taken on a partially sunny morning (9am) in New York (The Bronx)... In Spring, so the sun is already a bit high in the sky - it hits you at about a 100 degree angle from above.

But the light was not all; I must add that this shot was taken through my windshiled while I was at a red light. Hence the nice upward angle and the film-sy green/blue hue that I couldn't get rid of by adjusting the temperature or green/red level (Honestly I did not ant to take the effect off at all, but I tried to see if it was possible.)

Cat's out of the bag now - Cheers!

PS - to add, it was shot from the hip, AV mode - the AF in these lenses is that good.

I took this photo in 2016 on the way back from a short break to Piel Island, off the coast of Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, England. This dilapidated, abandoned fishing vessel stood a little way off from the causeway between the mainland and Roe Island, where the tiny ferry-boat leaves for, and comes in from, Piel. It was quite a nice day when I took the photo, and it simply didn't work for the mood I was looking for. Processing in Lightroom 6 and Silver Efex Pro gave me something much closer to what I wanted and thought was appropriate - a darker, somewhat-foreboding, lower-light film look...

Taken with the Hasselblad HV (Sony A99) and Sony Zeiss 24-70 f/2.8 SSM...

thank you - these are crops.

I always forget that the A35 has a panorama mode - I seldom use it...
