Vivitar 100-300

I hope someone sees this. I have a Vivitar 100-300 zoom lens with a canon fd type tx lens mount. For some reason there are two scales for setting the aperture. One scale is white and the other is green. Can someone tell me what is the difference. There is also a slider with EE on one end and M on the other. I am guessing that M is for a camera with manual aperature control and EE is for a camera with auto aperture control. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi welcome, lots of helpful people here. (mods: this probably belongs in troubleshooting and beginner help)

This is this lens, right?

(note the links in the lens description section)
The two scales are because of the swappable TX mount. Some of the mounts allow the f-stop ring to turn clockwise to change the F number, some anti-clockwise.
What mount do you have on it?

Usually. When the the lens is properly mounted to the mount, a pin is lined up that set the aperture scale to one side or the other. If it turns though both sets of scales most likely the pin wasn't positioned correctly when the lens and mount were paired. The mount has a white dot and a pin is to be positioned at that dot (if I remember correctly). I do have this lens and I'd need to pull it out and take a look to be sure.
