Pentax M50/1.2 made me do it

I bought into the full frame Sony system partially because Pentax MF and many AF lenses perform so well on Sony bodies. While deciding recently on the best 35/85 lens combo for the Sony, I stumbled on rave reviews of the Sony 50/1.2 GM lens. To convince myself 1.2 was worth the price, I mounted my Pentax 50/1.2 on the Sony a7r4 body, and OMG! I was in love, again, with this amazing Pentax lens and now aching to get something as good but with fast AF. The Sony lens arrived today and the reviews did not lie, it is simply amazing in every way. Knowing myself, my next 1000 pictures will be all about creamy bokeh and freezing action

I assume your Pentax 50/1.2 is a K or A lens. There is no M 50/1.2 as far as I'm aware.

But I'd be very interested to see a comparison with the Sony 50/1.2 - especially without software corrections....

Good point, must be a K lens.

I have owned a copy of the Pentax SMC-K 50mm f/1.2 for decades now, I know it well. Stopped down it is a very capable Landscape lens, At Wider apertures it is an excellent portrait lens. I find the Zeiss OTUS and lenses of its ILK too unforgiving and contrasty for portraiture, portraiture photographers already have to triple diffuse our lighting to knock off the inherently high contrast from digital.

Pentax K-1 SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2 @ f/11

Pentax K5IIs - SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2 @ f/1.2
