X700 setup here... but I'm ashamed to admit it's been sitting unused for a few years

I should load it up with some tri-X for fun...

no, but for some damn reason I've had one of their commercial's stuck in my brain for the past few days. Seriously. I'll be sitting around and in my mind suddenly hear, "from the mind...of Minolta..."

It is driving me crazy. I need to up my dose...

Had an SRT-101 but sold it. Good gear but just didn't have the personality of the e.g. the OM system.

Yeah I still have mine. Spent $100 to have it repaired. And it sit in the camera bag. Alone. Unused.

No agony here. I was planning on ruining some film thru it this weekend. See I have this great new model that works with me.

my father had a Minolta (don't recall what body it was) it was stolen and replaced with an Olympus OM I believe. that was also stolen and replaced with a Pentax KX. I have never actually used a minolta of any kind. I probably should.

I was gifted a full minolta set-up from a relative and just ran the first role of film through it... it's a pretty good kit;

SRT-101b
Rokkor 50/f1.4
Rokkor 28/f3.5
extension tube kit (15mm, 21mm and 25mm maybe???)
flash etc...

Unfortunately the light meter seems to need calibration; it works but consistantly reads 5-6 stops under. Nice kit but like someone else says, doesn't have the character of my MX set-up...

The light meter on these things work by way of a somewhat complicated string/pulley system. It could be that part of it is not working as intended -- if the needle moves when you change the aperture and shutter speed, see if it's also affected by the ISO setting.

I shot with a SRT-101 for a short while back in the early 80's and later grabbed a X-700 w/MD-1 motor drive (mid-80's). Also owned a Konica (son to be Minolta) FT-1 Motor during that time as well.

When I took mine to be fixed I asked about the difference in battery voltage. (they used mercury cells which are unavailable anymore) I even brought over instructions on how to recalibrate. He told me it's off 1/3rd stop. Just compensate. Or not. You'll still get a good shot. And I did still get good shots. Didn't have a chance to run a roll through it this weekend. It's just so bloody hot.
