First bird photo with the EF 100-400L

I got lucky when I saw this bluebird in the tree about 20 yards away. Couldn't get any closer. You can see he was "eyeballing" me:

What was your lens set at? I would think 400/20yds off you should have been tighter? Nice colors off that lens.

I was at 400mm. I may have been more than 20yds out. It was hard for me to judge because it was sort of down a hill, back in some trees. That bird was quite small though!
