And in 6 months, 12 months, etc, even better and costlier stuff will be available. If development of sensor resolution, sensitiviity et al roughly follows Moore's Law, we can expect a doubling of IQ and/or ISO and/or megapickles every couple years. Let's plot year vs ISO:

2010 - 10000
2012 - 20000
2014 - 40000
2016 - 80000
2018 - 160000
2020 - 320000
2022 - 640000
2024 - 128000

et f*cking cetera. Actually, I've probably stretched that curve a bit. Maybe we can expect ISO ONE MILLION by 2020, assuming this planet and civilization (?!?) still exist then. Sensor resolution will follow a similar trajectory.

My point is, squabbling over a few megapickles and ISOtherms is rather pissant, penny-ante, pointless. As long as stuff is made, there will always be newer, better, more impressive and expensive stuff. Big sh!t. Let's go out and shoot something.
Well, eventually you start running into physical barriers like the # of photons captured per "sensel" not to mention diffraction limits.

If you're after higher resolution, why not get an A850 or 5D II rather than a 12mp sensor with no AA filter (which will only get you so far)?

The only reason I can think of is if you're locked into the Nikon system, in which case I suppose it's a matter of waiting for something along the lines of a D700x...
Just meant that Nikon (and other manufacturers as well) should consider releasing models without AA-filter. Those hi-res alphas, 5dmk2, D3x and other major players in the field would all benefit from such modification. Leica has been doing it right with the current M-series. That D700HR mod is a good proof of concept.
