I am about to be committed to the state hospital for this insane course! The price tag at this point would have bought me a new K-7 and several nice lenses (or a D700). The only point of solace is that every purchase to this point (with the exception of the scanner) may be sold at minimal loss if needed (e.g. I discover that the total experience sucks...).
Things I would do differently in retrospect:
- Hold off on any enlarger upgrades (I bought a 6x7 negative holder and 80mm lens)
- Buy only one lens to start with (probably a 150/5.6). The 90mm I have in addition to the 150mm is nice, but I am finding that I seldom use it.
- Consider the implications of presbyopia in regards to ground glass focussing
- Father an additional child to serve as sherpa and photo assistant
Still pretty jazzed about the new kit though...

(Spent a considerable amount of time today trying to find a nylon lunch box to use as a camera case. Also made mistake of walking into Knight Camera. A guy had just dropped off a full Calumet 4x5 rail kit. I walked out with a couple more 4x5 sheet film holders (mint), a Calumet 6x7 roll film holder (semi-rough), and the Simmons book on LF photography. Dumb me...never walk into Knight's...I was looking for a cable release...)
