I'd say a better point&shoot, one known for good macro. The p&s has some real advantages for the type of photography you need - the depth of field is... deeper... than with APS-C size sensors. I think historically the Nikon and Canon seem to have the best macro, though I don't follow the market so I don't know what's what of late.
If you mean a lens to use on a dSLR - if you can do without autofocus, there are several ~50mm manual focus macro lenses that will do great. Get a used one that fits your slr camera.
