After seeing native 1080p60 videos I ordered one. It has manual controls with a 35-420mm (35mm eqiv) F1.5/2.8 Leica Dicomar lens, 3MOS Sensor , ext mic & headphone ports, POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) with Active Mode and much more.

Looks like the consumer cams have caught up ...

Here is some low light test video in better HD than u-tube vimo from my 5 year old hdr-z1u to compare against ... My GF has a K-x and the video also looks good as long as you use a tripod ...

I would save it first if you want to play smoothly though ....

How are the stills from a dynamic range perspective?

Very nice (still no LANC though). But it has tiny 1/4" chips, so it's a completely different image from that produced by a DSLR (Pentax or otherwise).

A DSLR is better for still shots or for shallow DOF in video but for shooting handheld in the 35-420mm range (35mm eqiv) on vacation with kids you need a small sensor with deep DOF and active OIS to get videos that are in focus and stable. And 1080p @60fps will show action much better than 24-30fps. I use my 10-24mm Tamron when I shoot videos of the kids on vacation or at home because I don't need to adjust focus once I set it to 6ft @10mm (15mm 35mm eqiv). The TM700 has both a 3" touch screen LCD and color EVF . I didn't get my TM700 yet, I ordered it last Saturday from J&R with $50 Bing Cashback and got an email confirmation from Bing but I didn't get shipping info yet. It was in stock when I ordered but was out of stock a few days later. I hope Pentax comes out with a FF DSLR with EVF and 1080p60 mode in the next year or so.

First test of my Panasonic HDC-TM700 in 1080p60

First test of my Panasonic HDC-TM700 in 1080p60 mode with Rode Stereo VideoMic and the Leica 18x (35-630mm ,35mm eqiv) F1.5-F2.8 zoom . You could download the 340MB native 1080p60 video file (next 7 days only) and play it in Windows 7 Media Player 12, KMplayer or put it on a SD card and play it on the PS3 .

Really nice footage! Promising cam I think..

but I wonder why you always referring to 1080p60, when in fact (at least according to the german datasheet) the cam does 50 progressive frames.. (which is astounishing anyway)..

Cheers!

It is 1080p50 in Europe and 1080p60 here in America.
Download the native 1080p60 file and look at the media info.

That's pretty impressive. Panasonic are always the company to beat and now it seems they are driving down the price of excellence even further... full manual controls too. But how much is it?

Thx a lot for this info!

Do you know if the framerate is actually determined by some fix firmware setting, or does it change with the language setting? If I had the choice, I would go in any case for the 60p for sure..

I paid $802 ($750 + $52 NJ 7% sales tax) from Panasonic Direct using my Corporate Perks account to sign up with Panasonic Purchase Program.

I have not seen any info yet on changing the Europe version 50p setting to 60p but I have not searched for that info since I have the 60p version.
BTW here is a clip I shot (handheld with TM700 in one hand and remote in other ) off of one of my HDTVs because some complain about the internal fan to keep the 1080p60 processor cool. The fan is not an issue with me even when using the internal 5.1 mic in a quiet room.

Panasonic HDC-TM700 fan test with Rode Stereo VideoMic on Vimeo with native 272mb 1080p60 file available for download (next 7 days).
