TM 700 vs

Please, guys, I need your advice. I need a full Hd video camera with professional setting possibilityes, so I decided to buy a TM 700 in the near future. The manual focus ring and the mic input are important features for me, as the manual setting options ...But a few days ago a friend of mine showed me a Cannon 550d, and told me, it has a high qvality full HD mode (1080/24p/25p/30p) with full manual setting mode. I watched some testvideos of the canon on vimeo, and I find it very impressive. It has really a film look, and makind depth with changing the backgorund/foreground focus is absolutely amasing. It has a 18 mpixel single sensor, the panasonic has 3 sensors, but the resolution is abaut 3 mpixel per sensor, and they are smaller.
So now I'm hesitateing, It's hard to make a choice for me.....still camera with a single large sensor, or a video camera with 3 smaller sensor, and maybe the focus ring handleing is better on Cannon....

????

Sorry for my english...
