More great shots everyone!

Sounds like I might be headed for Zion or Yosemite this summer for work with the Park Service...possibly for up to six months. After my rant about the D600 and how I'm prefer Canon handling I'm now thinking about the D800 as I'm just missing those awesome Exmor-sensor files. Can anyone comment on the D800 vs. D800E for landscapes? Thom Hogan says that there isn't much of a difference, especially when you factor in diffraction for shooting at f/8 and beyond.

Mark, you have the standard D800, right?

Sounds like a dream job for a landscape photographer!

The D700's clacky shutter makes me feel pretty self conscious in certain circumstances compared to the K5's whisper quiet operation, luckily Ed Hamell made enough noise to mask it. Also I can fit the K5 and three primes into my smallest bag, which only just holds the D700 with either 50/1.8 or 85/1.8. On the other hand, in this low light the Nikon's bigger brighter viewfinder helps and the manual focus confirm is more accurate than the Pentax. Honours even at the moment, needs more testing.

If I get the job it will probably be working in a campground or something, but that leaves nights and days off for shooting! I'm sure I would probably do fine with the 5Dm2 but I am just a sucker for the Exmor-based cameras.

Nice shot, DigitalCG. I like the b&w post processing.

Like the Ambleside mono Itshi - bonny shot.

Decided to get off my backside and go out on Saturday. 3am start to meet up with a mate and do Glencoe. One wee bit of light all day, Great conditions here today but busy with job applications and missus on nights so loads of other jobs to do instead of tramping up snowy valleys with the camera in my hand.

Beautiful work as always! You're fortunate to live in an area where there's a lot of variety in the landscape, plus you have the skills as a photographer to showcase it to others, especially us city slickers.

Glad to read that you are going to set up your own website to showcase your work. Maybe you can have a blog section where you talk about specific images and how you achieved the final look.. I think many people would be interested in learning how to improve their craft.

Shaun, the park job sounds like it'll dovetail nicely with your landscape photography, good luck!
Borno, more beautiul birding!

Cheers, the mono conversion was a lazy option, much easier than dealing with the nasty LED lighting. I've since had more patience and a touch of dumb luck messing with the WB and HSL sliders:
