Hi guys

The skies cleared the other day, so i went out to see if there would be some auroras. Only a green haze in was visible to the naked eye, 30 secs / iso 1600 confirmed that it really was a small display of the northern lights. Nothing spectacular, but still the first display i've seen this year. Shot with d700 & samyang 14 2.8.

Not taken very many photos for a few days. Was going out this afternoon, but the main views were too hazy out to sea. While watching TV, noticed the colour of the sun against the wall and looked over my shoulder. Grabbed the D800 and the AFS 300 f/4 with the TC 17 II and grabbed a few frames

I think it's a real bargain and nice to have in your coat if you are hiking around with a telephoto too. I like to have a 300mm and a couple teleconverters and the pancake in my pocket if I don't take my pack.

I really didn't need another lens, but got a deal on a eos 300mm f4 is before Christmas and had to try it. I figured I could at least break even if I didn't like it, but it is really sharp, even with a 2x it's not too bad. Here is one with the 1.4x today (1diii):

Stills shooting at a music video recording last year. AFAIK the project ended stillborn but hey, I got some pics despite having to work around two cameramen and the director front of set. Definitely overdid it processing the middle frame, will have to try again when feeling more subtle...
