Some more utilising the Lee filters - apart from the second one, I would have used them to get a complete reflection on the Thames, but a boat came through as I set them up!

Tuco, all your shots here superb here.....you are really making good use of that new camera.

Still, I think you should be back over in Fujiland, we miss you.

Regards!
Thanks Rupert. I miss doing Beer Friday shots in that thread.

A hike to Snoqualami Falls. I didn't have a ND filter or tripod for a long exposure with me.

Tuco, that is a nice shot with the clocks. The way the 58 renders is really something special. Hard to measure as well, but imo, well worth the price.

Thanks. I like that last shot of yours. When I was his age, I would have loved to have something like that to ride.

Thanks. I haven't shot the lens much. And sometimes I feel for the price I should have been given a little more f1.4 to f2 performance. But we'll see how I use it over time.

You're on a roll tuco. I like the candids from the ferry and the girl amongst the cherry blossoms.

Simon, really nice set. I love the color and DOF in the first image of your bike, and the ethereal feel of the last shot with your son.

Sharpness alone isn't everything. I am sure that at f1.4 it is still sufficiently sharp.
What good is an ugly but very sharp image? Probably not a lot, unless you work for press.

I agree and don't always care for the sharpest lens for everything. But f1.4 and f1.8 don't seem to be apertures I want to use on it so far is all I'm saying. I got the lens mostly for people pictures.

2nd Annual Mukilteo Lighthouse shot. Did the same shot last year about this time except with the 21mm
D800, Zeiss 18/3.5

Very nice shot mate! That zeiss looks impressive, is there much distortation correction applied on that shot?

Beautiful images Tuco - I'm not going to single out any as that would slight the others. Interested in the 35 as it is a focal length I am lacking on the 800 and its a fl I like. What are your thoughts?

A wee one from work the other morning.

I have the Zeiss 35 f/2 and you'd get the best out of it and you'd love it. Nice contrast and sharp. There is the 1.4 too but that is much more expensive. For me the f/2 is one of my favourites.

Thanks. Your ride is so clean on that first shot you can see the dust picked up on the knobs of the tire tread when you rolled it in for the shot.

I'm still learning this 18/3.5. The shot had some vertical correction but not much. I couldn't get the camera completely level to capture the height of the lighthouse from the only spot you can stand with some elevation so I had to aim it up a bit. And at 18mm vertical lines really distort fast. You might notice the top of the lighthouse is not quite right geometrically. Sot this lens might be better for landscapes than architecture.

Thanks. Sweet shot.

I had that Sigma 35/1.4 lens and liked it but it was too big for my Df so I got the new 35/1.8G for it. I considered the Zeiss 35/2 but I need fast focus for candid shots and the Zeiss wasn't going to cut it. I'm really impressed with t it so far. So much so I sold the Sigma. It's on my Df almost all the time now. This new 35/1.8G is usable at f1.8 and on and is sharp with good bokeh. But that is on the Df at 16MP. I've yet to get some experience with it at 36MP on the D800. I'm giving it a highly recommended for someone who doesn't what to pay the high price or carry the weight burden of the f1.4 versions.

Seattle's Wheel

I need to spend some time cleaning my sensor and also commit to using dark frame subtraction on my long exposures with the D800...spent way too long cleaning this one up!
