Perhaps one of these days, Rupert, and thanks for those encouraging words. Remember I'm use to large gear. I still haul around my Pentax 6x7 and Hassy 500C/M and shoot those.

I love the processing and stark tones in this first landscape.

Both excellent photos, tuco. Is the second shot all natural motion blur? It's quite a stunning image.

Here are some more from New Zealand that I have processed:

Thanks. Yes, just panning. I pan with a monopod and only a small percentage turn out.

Thanks - it looked too dark on the LCD screen on location and I was running out of space on the SD card - good decision not to delete it. I suspected it had good amount of contrast, and being the D800E, I knew that there would be plenty of detail, and only had to pull it one stop brighter. I did look at it in BW but this is one long exposure that works best in colour - I like the green in the water a lot.

A tad jealous of everyones locations. Not really getting out much to do my own thing. This is an old one from last June. Didn't do owt with it as I thought it was a tad formulaic but looked at it again in a slightly cheerier mood and decided it was ok.

Doing far more birding than scenic/city photography of late. It's tough to carry 8kg birding kit plus 8kg backpack on daily 10-16kms hikes in mountains or rainforests, never mind an extra landscape lens too !

All D3s.

Early morning at Fraser Hill, Malaysia. 300/2.8

The road from Gaoligongshan to Tengchong in Yunnan, China. Unfortunately I simply couldn't get any closer to the edge of the 200m drop-off to exclude the reeds. Sigma 24-105/4 @ 24mm

5 mins before an amazing storm that turned day into night (25C but still hail-stones the size of golf-balls - they hurt) ! mm strangely missing from the EXIF but I think this is the Sigma 24-105/4 again.

The best way in and out of the Taman Nagara National Park is via the Tembeling river up to Kuala Tahan. 600mm / f5.6 / 1/2000

The village I stayed in, Baihualin on Gaoligongshan Mountain in Yunnan, China. Sigma 24-105/4 @ 58mm

Excellent set, Frogfish. I especially like the low angle photo of the riverboat.

---

Every Tuesday evening in Seattle during the fair weather months, there are a number of sailboats that gather on Lake Union, in the middle of the city. After meaning to shoot this for a long time, I finally got around to doing it today:

A nice late-Spring image. I'm not sure I would agree with 'formulaic', at least not by the Littlejohn formula -- when water appears in your images it tends to dominate the scene ;-)

I rather like its subtle use as a background element hidden in fog while the flowers take center stage here.

This is more than just 'OK', the colors here inject pleasure directly into the brain. The purple is very, very present but not overpowering. This is a near-perfect nature-color shot, IMO.

Cheers - I think it will likely make a nice print.

A slightly more miserable one which I have to say I like a lot. I'll be printing it on some nice paper next week.
