Thanks. It's easy to find out. Just scroll your web page down until the sand is cropped off. I kind of like the layers it creates.

Like these Tuco. I'm going to have a wander out tonight with an old 20mm 2.8Ais and the Df to try some star stuff.

Another from the Blue Angels show. A little tortured to separate the tones, but I liked the curves and motion in this image so it had to be done:

Works very well - great curving lines.

Thanks. Clear nights, new moon and little or no city lights are tough conditions to meet where I live. I have to travel a long ways to find that. The Df does pretty good at ISO3200 for these kinds of shots. Multiple exposures seems to be pretty popular with this genera. I kind of like the challenge of the single exposure even though the DR and noise is not as good as lower ISOs.

I'm with you. I like a single shot. Not into all this technobabble. It becomes less about the shot and more about computer wizardry.

i see your point, the brown balances out the dark rocks... and even that big rock on the right adds a balance of sorts to the brightness of the city lights.

it's a good composition.

i just looked at it on flickr, and the gamma seems brighter on the sand... maybe it's the black background around the pic.

lotta good pics in this thread.

Thanks Mark, and very nice images, particularly the first of the tree at the edge of the field. I like the effect from the successive layers.

But nevertheless I gave a single exposure at ISO 3200 @ f2.8 for 15 seconds a try on the Zeiss 21mm with headlamp fill even though I couldn't find a good foreground for it.
Great Milky Way shot. I think the fore- and mid-grounds work here; not dramatic but they offer a nice visual balance against the openness of the sky. How'd you light the far slope?

I've had my 6D and EF50mm1.8II for a couple of weeks now, slowly finishing off my research as to what lenses I'll be buying to go with it. Just wanted to share some shots I've made so far - absolutely loving this camera!

The road lights in the distance was the light source.

The nuts on the ground in ivoire's shot and and the Larches changing color in Chris's shot are a sad reminder for me of the long, rainy days coming.
But we can still enjoy the lovely progression of October!

I recently received as a gift a new (larger) hiking backpack that lets me stow away a third lens, so here, courtesy of the pack, are some rare shots from my seldom-brought-along 24-70:
