Like the colour tones in these. Next time I'm in Venice I quite fancy some night stuff. I took a couple on the last morning pre dawn and in the dark and rain I liked it a lot.

I was out there in the predawn this morning and got this which is posted in the MF thread: I should have been out about 20-30 minutes earlier but thought it was too dark. Before very long the light had changed dramatically, and I practically threw my room key at the receptionist on my way out - had to as he had the key to the front door!

Right now, I should be well on my way to the city that never sleeps, but due to a delay to the flight that was our return, we missed the connection, and being first day of easter holidays, having missed the report time for my flight by about 45 seconds, the last flights were all full, even after waiting for standby seats. So instead I am in the place that no one would choose to be awake in - Heathrow. In a hotel at least...paid for by the airline. Would rather be in the Manhattan hotel I have already paid for and can't get a refund for.

Oh and thanks - I wasn't tempted to convert these to bw. I don't think they would work like that. Those 'rag' wash painted walls just cry out for colour....and the A7R does a pretty good job at giving good raw ingredients - though a little warmer than Nikon's use of the sensor.

I like that first one of Manhattan.

From the first outing with the 6D. Known as "The Great Wall of Los Angeles", it's actually a flood drainage ditch with (currently) about 1/2 mile of mural showing the history of California.

The Brand library in Glendale, CA. Leslie Brand (1859–1925) was a real estate developer and he helped start Glendale.

This was his house.

I learned of yesterday morning's total lunar eclipse about 12 hrs before it was set to hit. Having tried to see the last two eclipses here in Seattle in April and last September, we realized we needed to get out of the city to have any hope of escaping cloud cover. So at midnight Lisa and I packed up the car and left our apartment in Seattle afor the central Washington desert, where we hiked in and set up camp along one of the many coulees. I botched my interval shooting setup, so no eclipse photos, but I did spend some time photographing the landscape in the opposite direction:

Next time some photos of the moon itself, hopefully!

I also got out later that day to West Seattle to shoot the city skyline:
