Jay...how do you downsize your pics for web? They are really sharp, even at your posting size (mine soften up a fair bit).

P.S. Love the compressed background in the 300 images!
.

I've tried a couple different hosting sites and downsizing methods, but what I've settled on works as well as anything and kills two birds with one stone - offsite storage and image link-hosting for places like this.

I pay $25/year for a flickr pro account, and have unlimited storage and image size, so I upload my full sized files (a certian percenrage of 'keepers' I want to keep) up to flickr. Then I just link the 'Large' (not 'Full') sizes in here. So effectively, the Google engineers do all the downsizing for me.

I find this works very well.

(& yes, the 300mm compression is a fun thing I don't get to play with much )

Nikon 70-300mm VR

Thanks, Todd. It's a great lens in all its various incarnations.

Got a 70-300VR the other day for no other reason than that it was cheap on the FM marketplace and I'd been wanting to try it out. (Carrying a positive PP balance is a dangerous thing...) Anyway, it's very sharp, contrasty, etc, and the bokeh is better than I'd expect from a slowish variable aperture zoom.

Nice work Deadwolfbones. I like the painterly look of the Viv shots as well.

Mostly I shoot people, so here's a few people for you, from about the last month of sessions. All withe D3, iirc, either with the Nikkor 70-200 VR or the Zeiss 100 MP.

Hey, thanks! It's easier to recycle than to find new shots.

50mm f/1.8D

.

From today:

f/2

.

Crop of above (the 50 1.8 is probably my most used lens on D700, a fact that bugs me slightly, but the FL is perfect for a lot of things and it simply performs...) :

.

.

I use it for a lot of 'family captures' like the snap below that are worth very much to me & my extended family even if they aren't worth much photographically/technically:

(The FL is perfect for stuff like this, and the body's AF-lock and high-ISO make these kinds of snaps too easy.)

f/2 1/1000s ISO 3600
