I have question for you if I may. Is it worth swapping 28-70L for 24-70L to use on 1D3?
TIA for answer
The 24 - 70 can be a little inconsistent. It can be fantastic but is sometimes not as sharp as it could be. the extra 4mm can be handy and it is a great range as a walk around lens. They have the MK II coming out but it's gonna be considerably more than the mkI It's going to a 82mm from a 77mm thread which is annoying as 82mm thread filters are harder to come by and consequently more expensive.

I have the timing of that shot a little out (meaning an hour out!). It was one of my last photos in that shoot. This was about 0640 with no filters

Another nice shot but I'd be very tempted to crop it to 16:9 format or somewhere there abouts,
And thanks for the feedback on 24-70L. I know about MkII but I'm not interesting in that one. I prefer the hood arrangement of MkI or 28-70L. In general, I'm very happy with the 28-70 but I think I'd enjoy the WR treatment of 24-70 and the 70mm end wide open is not the best + inconsistent AF. The 4mm could be an icing as it would delay planned getting either 20-35L or 17-40L.

Regards
P

and a 16:9 crop of the last shot

I have the 16 - 35L II again a good lens but some inconsistencies. Being ultrawide it does have some distortion at times. I sometimes carry that and the 28 - 300L which has real flexibility

Nice shots with the D3 darrenleow.

Here are some shots from last week. This was my first ever photo shoot.

I learned a lot. Newborns photography is extremely difficult. I had a blast working with the family.

Don't shoot many HDRs, but this was a pretty fitting situation to do so, hope I didn't overdo it.

University of Chicago's Hutchinson Hall, a near-exact replica of Oxford's Christ Church Hall (which was the basis of the dining hall in the Harry Potter films)

D3, 24-70.. Kinda wish the lens had VR at times

I don't often take photos of birds, but I have seen lots of character in a wide range of birds today from Ducks to Ravens to Robins. A lot of birds by Windermere are getting rather 'frisky' and some poor female ducks are getting jumped by 6 drakes at a time! Sorry there's so many but I actually really like these! They are all taken with my 100mm macro lens which is SOO sharp!

1. Canon 5D mk III EF 100mm macro at f/10 1/80 ISO 400

2. The ducks appear to be squaring up:

f/11 1/125 ISO 400

3. I'd like to know what they are saying to each other!

f/11 1/125 ISO 400

4. This Raven decided to perch himself at a cafe:

f/9 1/160 ISO 640

5. f/9 1/200 ISO 640

6. I think this Robin is ordering some cake for table 29

f/9 1/640 ISO 640

7. I think he enjoyed it

nice shot and well done HDR. I'm not a big fan of the effect but if it's done tastefully like this, it's enjoyable. Well done
