Great shots though.. I wish I had a few subjects running around the place.
Funny, we just had a little discussion about Cricket, my 4-year old asked to see 'pictures of it on the computer' after he heard about it. (that translates to: "google-image search a subject and show me what you're talking about."

Thx bossa.

Awesome shots Jay, damn this thread!
Ive got my D800 ordered via several places and the money is burning a hole in my pocket! Im tempted just to get a D700!

Maybe I should just buy another Nikkor lens for the time being lol.
My problem there is the lens I want right now (28 1.8G) isn't even available yet, so that therapy won't work for me. Thanks.

Jay, that 180/2.8d is mighty tempting. Especially when you make it look so easy!
I've recently picked up the 70-200vrii and although it is easily the most amazing lens I've ever used, it is huge!
Was a guest at a wedding on the weekend(didn't take the 70-200.. Didn't want to look too pretentious!) and I couldn't stop thinking about how the 180 would have been perfect...
More stepping back to fit stuff in the frame, but if that works, the 180 would be ideal. Thx noons.

Great shots Tom & Axl!

Axl, you may not realize it now, but in just a few short years you'll be incredibly happy you saved these moments, even more so than now. My oldest turns 5 this coming fall, and I can't believe all the little events I can't clearly remember now that were only a few years ago. I'm so very glad I shot & shot & shot...
Thanks Jay,

I do realize that time flies, and that shooting helps me preserve all the memories.
Only shame is I don't have the time to review all the shots

and in the meantime I'm back on track...after few months of experimenting I decided to go for primes again. Sold the 228-70L and got 100/2 USM back. Now I'm just looking for some wider lens, feeling is that is going to be something between 24 and 35mm from either Canon or Sigma.

Wow i agree. Stunning shot. Perhaps you could add more black background to the bottom to even out the top and bottom? More symmetrical I guess.

I really like that one too and it will be one of the few of many that make it to the wall.

Would you get a new or used D700?

I have been debating the same thing. I have the D800 on order (for who knows how much longer), but for around $600 less I could get a used D700 and the Fuji X100 as a walkaround which I've been eyeing up recently. That $600 could also then go to another lens ....
