Nice shots Bart. No trouble with too little DOF in those shots. ;-)

You're shooting a lot of subjects with your Sigma 150 that need more than 25 meters of DOF?

But yes, the concepts of 'equivalence' are something everyone should get familiar with. Personally I'm feeling like I get too much DOF with my apsc kits at the usual FOV/apertures these days, but I'm usually not shooting things that require a huge DOF.
Hi Jay,

I only got the 150 last Friday and it fell apart on Sunday. My replacement arrived on Tuesday.. so I haven't had much time to try it out.

Not having used a FF since 1984 when I owned an LX/MX kit and having gotten used to APS-C I am just discovering the differences. I should probably not make my naivety so public for reasons manifest by a certain post made by someone one page ago but as it's a forum and I like to think we're mostly friends with good intentions I just post what I'm thinking. I guess I am looking for a discussion but as I tend to make a comment it probably comes out the wrong way..

Ignore the idiots. They live everywhere and teach you nothing. There is no-one that has nothing to learn

I have yet another replacement Sigma 150 on the way as this one is making very strange noises when the OS is switched on. The lens is incredibly sharp and it's really disappointing. If the next one is a dud I'm getting a refund and I'll need to find a decent lens around that FL though - the 180 seems pretty popular around here.

Gee, that's really bad Steve. I thought Sigma had improved their QC recently - especially given its a new lens model.
If I was to get a macro, it would be the 180... if only it wasn't so much!

180 was what I wanted but they're not here yet.. I haven't looked into the price though... I assume it's more than the 150?

The distributor reckons the container was probably dropped on the wharf but that seems pretty far fetched these days. I had a tech look at this 3rd unit today and he said it sounded normal. When the offered replacement arrives I'll see if it makes the same strange noises (OS) and then I'll know.

My D800E got an oil stain today.. between shots it came out of nowhere. The tech who cleaned it said it was dust but I know it wasn't as It had all the trade-mark tell tails of a liquid splash.. anyway.. he was getting mighty pissed because he couldn't get the damned thing clean after about 10 minutes of trying. I was getting rather worried about the camera too but it seems OK. There's no way a particle of dust resists cleaning agents unless it's glued down.
