Just back from a short trip to Austria and took both of my cameras with me. When I need speed, the 645D just isn't built for that so bird shots will nearly always be done with the Canon. I do find that the Pentax has much better dynamic range than the Canon, although the Canon's inbuilt HDR is good and even better as it retains the RAW files. Here are some more shots including some of the Maltatal Dam, which is Austria's highest at about 700ft high.

Canon 5D mk III EF 16 - 35 at 17mm and f/14 1/30 and ISO 400

The view from the top of the dam:

canon 5D mk III EF 16 - 35 L at 20mm and f/14 1/40 ISO 400

Looking from the top of Villach Alpenstrasse - this is a handheld HDR using photomatix to blend the three exposures taken using auto bracketing on 5D3:

Canon 5D mk III Carl Zeiss 35 f/2 at f/8 ISO 100

An alpine bird - not sure which one could be a kind bird from the crow family, possibly a raven:

Canon 5D mk III EF 70 - 200 f/2.8 IS L at f/8 and 200mm 1/1250 ISO 400

An alpine cow complete with bell:

Canon 5D mk III EF 70 - 200 L at f/8 and 200mm, 1/400 ISO 400

great shots itshimitis!

After 1.5yrs of using D700 shooting gigs and performances I still kind of miss some of the small user friendly and intuitive stuff of K5 but couldn't be happier for the change.

This is a nice set of shots.

For some reason, I don't really receive updates regarding this thread. Then when I remember to take a look, it has grown leaps and bounds!

Again, great shots added since I last passed through. Seems that kids are making brilliant subjects for you guys!

Compacts notwithstanding, yesterday was the first time I've pointed a non-Pentax at my pride and joy:

My D800E has been away for 12 days and I was just told it will be another week AT LEAST. With my DA*50-135 & DA*55 off to be repaired it's pretty frustrating. I've been using my DA*60-250 but the state of my back is making that pretty hard to carry for long periods. It looks like the Nikon and 70-200 VRII might end up for sale if my back wins out.

Wish I had the money.. I'd take that 70-200 VR II off your hands!
In other news, some m42 adapters arrived so I can still play with my Tak's.. the good old Super Tak 55mm f2 stomps the hell out of the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 E-series by a land slide IMO.

Thanks, It's an old lens, but it is very sharp and focuses quickly.

I photographed a red carpet using this lens recently and one of the other photographers there (From Getty) asked me what the heck it was, lol. He was using a 24-70 which seemed to exhibit a fair amount of distortion. It tended to make people's extremities and torsos appear neanderthal like. Getty does not allow for this to be corrected either as they only allow extremely minor modifications.
