Hey Simmo.

Yeah, Shonky is the word. It was clear from almost every shot that the VC was crapping out on everything above 1/60sec. What's the point of VC/VR/SR/IS if you have to remember to turn it off above 1/100th sec On the other hand, the 35/1.5G was awesome on almost every shot. I think it's important to buy what you'll never need to replace. The Samyang 35/1.5 is probably optically as good as the Nikkor but it lacks AF (and lens correction profiles for LR) so the extra money is probably worth it in the end.

Nice shot Simon. APS-C would need a 120mm lens at F/1.8 to match that ;-)

Really nice shot Simon.
I'll have to post something here soon.. haven't for a while now! - life is getting away with me atm, trying to sort out finance for a new home build.

I need to explain my comments re' the Tamron 24-70. It seems to be optically brilliant but the VC doesn't seem to work correctly on the copy I tried. At least 1/2 of my shots were 'double exposed' if you like and about another 30% were borderline. I'll try some more shots tomorrow with VC switched off and report back about the optics at least.

I just bought a Nikkor 35/1.4G so I'll have to sell off a good deal of my Pentax stuff now. I can't see the point of owning a separate APS-C system when my D800 can shoot in FF, 1.2, 1.5 and 4x5 aspect and formats. I was set on the Samyang but due t my lousy eyesight (AF would be better for on a F/1.4 lens), the size difference and there being no lens profiles for LR I decided to go the Nikon.

I've only had the lens for a few hours and the light has been pretty bad so I've just been doing a few 'tests' to familiarize myself with it.

Mooooooore Pleaaaaase!

A 35/1.4 is one of the few reasons to turn my back onto pentax (correct English?) .... The isolation it delivers just cannot be achieved by APS-C and current lenses available. If there is nothing substantial announced at the Photokina, I'll get a 5DII and a 35L
