A 35/1.4 is one of the few reasons to turn my back onto Pentax (correct English?) .... The isolation it delivers just cannot be achieved by APS-C and current lenses available. If there is nothing substantial announced at the Photokina, I'll get a 5DII and a 35L
Thanks for the positive response Sinister. I actually woke up at 3:30am having some anxiety issues as I read a couple of reviews that said the 35/1.8 G DX was a better lens (I also already knew that the Samyang was better optically). I eventually calmed down as the shots I've taken thus far have been sharp enough for me and AF seems fine too... This lens will live on the camera most of the time until I can sell off a bunch of other things to finance a 2nd body.

Re' Pentax matching a 35/1.4 lens but for APS-C: It would need to be a 23.33mm f/0.95 (or 24mm f/1 lens). So That won't ever be showing up I feel.

Steve have you thought about buying a used one (35mm1.8G) to compare and set your mind at ease? You can pick them up on ebay for under $200 and after your done just sell it on

A few more-

1st, 2nd and last do it for me mate!

Re' buying a used 35: I can't afford to buy squat right now but I'll keep it in mind. I love this 1.4G so I doubt I'll go further.

I went to the end of the runway at Adelaide Airport today and I still can't believe there's an occupied house under the flight path at the end of the runway where the planes pass only about 50 feet above them.

Great shot of the bee, Steve.
I had a look at the full res shot, and I can see some moire in the eyes! Any other resolution and you wouldn't even notice - that 35 is super sharp!

Hey mate, the Bee/fly was taken with the Sigma 150. Thanks for pointing out the moire though as I was so busy trying to think of a way to get more DOF without diffraction to notice it as such. I incorrectly saw that moire as a soft lens effect but now I see it's the sensor.

Cheers
Steve

PS: It seems that the insect is an Australian Native Bee but I haven't found the name yet.

Was at the Avon Descent two weekends ago, helping out the father in law, who regularly races in it.

All taken with the D700 + 70-200 VR2 (some with the TC-20E III). Some are quite heavy crops.

That explains the sharpness and close focus, Steve
I only spotted the moire, because I wanted to take a look at all those pixels

Oh, and it is an odd looking bee. I haven't seen one before. Maybe it's a SA only native?

Hey Bossa thanks for the reply. Actually I think we have a misunderstanding here. I am aware of the APS-C equivalent and the fact, that such a lense is not realistic. Hence, I am preparing to jump to Canon and the 35L
