Glorious 35mm von Ineound auf Flickr

Today I received my 35mm F2 – the main reason why I switched to the 24x36mm format (to be honest it was the F1.4 version, but that comes later).
So here is just a quick snapshot to test the lens, and it gives me all I was looking for. Happy I am

Nice shot! I Alot of people dont like that lens but I think it renders nice photos. Im on the edge of buying the 35mm f/1.4G but Im going to see how Sigma's new 35mm performs first
TOUGEFC, it looks like Sinister shoots a 5DMk1 and you a D700. Not sure how the 35mm f/2 lens for each system compares.. unless you were actually referring to the Canon version then nevermind what I just wrote lol.

I like the FOV of 35mm but when I (briefly) tried the f/2 on my D700 I wasn't impressed. However the f/1.4G was pretty sweet!

I'm interested in how you guys approach WB. It seems to me that without an absolute reference it's all subjective anyway.

You should try the sigma 50-150 2.8 HSM on the D800 - as good as the 50-135 on k5, and the lens is a lot lighter than the 70-200.
Hi Jay, but that lens is a DX format and whilst optically the same as the DA it doesn't have the coatings and WR.. I don't know how it would go in 1.2x mode but at 1x I doubt it would cut it.

Looks like this thread is gathering pace, from the bargain 5D to the latest D6/800 users. So much great content (and massive variety) since I last looked, really pleased to be part of this!

A few from me, all with the £80 (new!) Cosina 19-35. The center is okay and the rest picks up if you can get it down to f8-f11, but the corners are never going to win any awards. Pennies being stashed for the 16-35...

Yep, just a snapshot really - liked how the people out front were missing the real view out back. How did you find Madrid? Looking for a city break and it's on the shortlist.

It's a great city but today has been a mañana day- it actually means not today rather than tomorrow. The only time it stopped raining was when an event I am involved in required my attendance except they had issues so have ended up stuck in my hotel room all day which is my idea of hell. Been too wet to shoot anything. I'd like to get back to Barcelona to do some proper shooting now that am more skilled.

Those baby heads are freaky looking!

Nice to see that the leaves are turning over in Spain.. fall is my favourite time of year. I'll be flying to Paris tomorrow and then Rome a week later.. hoping for some nice fall colours and weather too.

I know, but you were comparing the K5 + 50-135 to the D800 + 70-200 in size, and the truth is the D800 in DX mode with the Sigma 50-150 would pretty much exactly match the K-5 + 50-135 in resolution and IQ, focus faster and come a lot closer to the Pentax combo in size. It's kinda academic since you don't have the Sigma, though, I was just saying that with a size-only comparison you can bring in DX mode and choose a DX lens if you want, since you have so many MP to work with.

This is the D800 + 50-150 in DX mode (15.5 MP)

150mm @ f/2.8 ISO 1600

75mm @ f/2.8

It doesn't have WR and is not stabilized, but there's nothing wrong with the coatings Sigma uses on it's EX line - lots of contrast and good flare control. What I really like that combo for though is the smaller size of the zoom compared to a 70-200 and the speed of that HSM on that body.
