Don't try to fight it; it's an awesome set of tools (which you are using quite well, let it be known. )

Your little man is growing up fast, Jay. I like the contemplative expression you've captured.

sb in ak - did you do some toning for the boat after using silver efex? Cracking shot.

A recce for later on today. I'm hoping the convention centre will be lit up with big blue hoops and I can get it at twilight. Trying to do some product shots for my sisters business.

Yesterday I went to Bath and caught up with my parents for my mum's birthday. As I arrived, it had just been raining, but it brightened up in no time. These are pretty popular subjects for shooting, so won't be hugely original, but Bath is a great city.

Some of the Royal Crescent:

1. Nikon D800 Nikkor 14 - 24 at f/8 and 16mm 1/125 ISO 50

2. 16mm f/13 1/125 ISO 100

3. 16mm f/13 1/200 ISO 100

West Gate of Bath Abbey - unfortunately, the Abbey is surrounded by maintenance works so not many shots to be had of the whole building:

4. Nikkor 24 - 70 at f/8 1/5 ISO 100

Then down to Pulteney Bridge - a very popular haunt for tourists with their flashing cameras. Had to balance my tripod on the wall which made me nervous as the water is deep and a long way down. (all with Nikkor 24 - 70)

5. f/8 29mm 5 secs ISO 50 with circular polariser

6. f/11 24mm 30 secs ISO 100 with CP

7. f/11 27mm 10 secs ISO 100 (without CP)

8. A crop of the above:

9. 24mm f/11 10 secs ISO 100 (without CP)

I was in Paris and Rome recently and have been going over some of my trip photos. I noticed I took quite a number of photos of staircases (plus a few escalators). The following were all processed and converted to b&w in LR except the last one of the Vatican Museum staircase - it was stitched from 6 photos and given a b&w treatment in Photoshop and Silver Efex.
Love 'Man on the Stairs' and 'Spiral' ! How did you manage to stitch 6 shots of Spiral with so many people in the shot ?

Thanks! Naw, I did a few adjustments and cropping in Lightroom and then moved it over into Silver Efex. I wasn't expecting to get those tones...anyways, it turned out well.

A couple with the AFS 300 f/4 with the AFS TC 17 II both taken from our flat roof and the steelworks area bout a mile from us: This is by far the best experience I have had with a teleconverter. Very sharp, and a maximum aperture reduced to f/6.7 really happy with it. I did see a used Sigma 500 f/4.5 in the same store but this for me will be better.

f/8 1/640 ISO 400 Handheld converted in Silver efex using Pan F 50 profile

f/8 1/500 ISO 400

Amazing shots - I love using silver efex. In fact I find all the Nik plug ins to be excellent. Let's hope that Google doesn't ruin it.
