That 200-400 looks a beautiful lens.

Loving the first snow series Jay.

A wee shot of the Convention Centre, Dublin. No chance for photos at all while in Paris which was a shame. Ironically as Pentax Europe asked if I would be interested in supplying images for the Salon de la Photo exhibition in Paris next month. Not sure if any will be used but nice to be asked. Off to Glasgow for two days now and then Edinburgh to help my Dad get into a respite home. I might get some pictures back home before all the leaves fall from the trees (although making sure my Dad is comfortable is rather higher up my list)

Well deserved Mark. Hope they select a few. Good luck with getting your father settled too.

In a cold and wintry Warsaw - taking one of my nephews around Warsaw and Auschwitz to help with his history projects.

This statue is of a 13 year old boy who was killed in the Warsaw uprising in 1944 - very touching

(all with Nikon D800 and 24 - 70)

f/11 52mm 1 sec ISO 100

looking down the street to one of the main squares

f/11 48mm 0.6s ISO 100

I liked the reflection of the lights in the wet ground:

24mm f/8 1.3 secs ISO 100

f/11 32mm 0.8 secs ISO 100

Now that the D800 has been out for a good while,I would appreciate it if former/current D700 owners who have been using a D800/D800E for a while could comment on the AF on the D800/D800E, please. More than a couple reports seem to indicate that the D800 AF is not as consistently accurate, nor as decisive as the AF on the D700. Thoughts? I understand that the higher resolution of the camera requires better technique. I am asking just about the AF capabilities of the cameras, taking technique out of the equation as much as that is possible.

I am considering a D800E, but I might just end up getting a used D700 again instead.

Thanks in advance.

My two D800E focus pretty much 100% every time and the only time they haven't has been user error.

Just sold my FA77 MIJ ltd .. feeling ill... only two lenses and the K-5 to go. I'm tempted to hang on to the 50-135 and the camera as a walk around...

PS: If Pentax were not (and still may not be) going to make a FF DSLR then WTF didn't they release the FA LTD's in Nikon and Canon mounts? Crazy? Of course the day they DO bring out a FF DSLR they could easily discontinue other mount versions and thus increase the value of said lenses and brand. Is it me who's clueless or them?

I am coming on the FF bandwagon as well, used D700 and 50 1.8D on the way.
