So what are peoples' favorite Nikon-mount primes? I'm probably going to put a 50/1.8G between my 16-35 and 70-200/4, but what about on either side of normal? Mark gave a strong vote for the 24/1.4, and I'm wondering what else people like to use, across the focal length spectrum. In the past year I've moved mostly to zooms for my landscape workhorses, but for all other purposes I still prefer primes. Would really like to exploit the format's DOF possibilities, though I wonder if it's simultaneously possible to satisfy my FA Limited snobbery for OOF rendering? A guy can dream, can't he? :-)

Couple of work shots with the 24 f1.4 - wrong lens to have with me today. Weather has been decidedly mad - rain/wind/sun all at the same time.

The poppy is at f1.4, rest at a variety but don't usually go past f8. I can't praise this lens enough - almost reason enough on its own to go to Nikon

A new 58/1.4 is coming out. But it also sports the f1.4 price tag. However, it looks to have smooth bokeh and is advertising good f1.4 performance.

It certainly feels like morning. This summer I've been working on getting the Sun down to it's actual diameter in a single frame capture for the FOV and have come pretty close and would love to get a chance to try it on a scene similar to your second one.

Just googled it - that looks rather nice.

I've got my eye on it. I always divide marketer's talk by 2 but if the reviews look good, I might just have to buck up. I'm wanting a better prime in that focal length.

Two days ago I bought a lens that could fulfil that dream The way it renders skin tone, obliterates backgrounds into soft dreamy nothingness, pops 3D and handles OOF highlights and lights is exactly what I was looking for.

Not happy with my line-up I sold the Zeiss 35/2 (simply fantastic lens but my dodgy eyes were not maintaining a high enough keeper rate to warrant it) and bought the Sigma 35/1.4, superb lens. The Zeiss 21mm will be buried with me. I also have the excellent Sigma 50/1.4 but need an 85 (which will be the Sigma) and something in the 100-150 range since the 200/2 will forever be beyond my reach I ended up buying the simply wonderful Nikon 135/2 DC. Truly I am very happy with that 21,35,50,85,135 line-up. Try the 135 I think you'll find paradise.

Not the most glamourous of subjects but you've got to work with what you've got right ? These were a couple of the shots I took on the street in the 15 mins they gave me to try it out before I bought it.

Basic 2 second LR processing to remove PF. Minor sharpening and NR applied. This is one amazing lens that I'm stunned to have not heard mentioned more often before.

I have the 105DC - superb. Received news that I had three images commended in this years UK Landscape Phjotographer of the year Awards. Two were taken with the 105 and one with the 24. Having said that I was thinking of swapping to the 85 1.8G and the 135DC. Very tempting lens. In fact, the 24, the 58 that Tuco mentions, the 85 and the 135 would see me just about sorted.

I have the 135 DC (and 85 1.8); it's my favourite.

I was reading up about that lens all afternoon and several people commented on the LgCA the lens produces. Of course a lot of that is due to bad usage of the DC ring, but more than a couple of people said they'd given the lens up in favour of the Sigma 150 OS Macro (which I already have). I'd like to play with a DC 135 F2 in anything just to get rid of my LBA..
