Couple images from this morning:

Untitled
24/1.4 @ f/6.3

Olympic Peakaboo
70-200/4 @ 200mm f/11

(Anyone have any tips on preventing the posterization in the second image? Not present in the 16-bit TIFF, but was introduced on conversion to JPEG.)

(Edit: Lowering the saturation of the blue channel helped a lot, but tips still welcome!)

Dug out some photos from a damaged macbook pro. Haven't been able to turn it on for a while but got it back into life today and copied all the raw images...

I have been fortunate enough to have spent quite a bit of time in Korea, and one of the most interesting places I have stayed in is called the Sun Cruise Hotel. I'm not sure if it ever actually was a ship at some point though:

It is on the Easternmost part of South Korea and this is the view I had at dawn - the hands are to 'catch' the first light:

From a walk with my daughter...trying to get a landscape shot, while she got tired of waiting for me...turned out pretty nicely I think.

Some more from the archives. Damp weather meaning I am going through more o the 5000+ raw images I rescued, most of them are a few years old....

1. A house called Cesena (there is a pretty town in Northern Italy called this) in NewQuay, West Wales

2. The deep Violets gave some deep blacks with a red filter in Silver Efex

3.

4.

5. Under Loughrigg, near Rydal, Lake District

6. Reduced the opacity and fill of the Silver Efex layer to get this desaturated look:

Come on Mr Bassie! That's a nice shot, but in your heart you know that you said to yourself....."I could have shot that with my Toy Camera X30 in Classic Chrome...and liked it even better!"

These guys over here don't appreciate you like we do over in the Toy Camera thread, where you know you should be. Stop playing around with that big bulky FF camera before you get a hernia or a bad back, and get back over where we appreciate your many skills!

Regards!

Note to Tuco: Same to you...you need to be back over in Fujiland with an X-T1 and dump that big heavy Nikon before you too get bent over with a hernia and bad back. We are up to $12.47 in our fund to buy you a X-T1.......so it won't be long until you will have no excuse not to come back!

Well, Rupert, my Df weighs less than a K-3 so you need to update your knowledge of what's big and heavy.

You guys are hopeless.......just stuck on those big bulky FF cameras. Tuco, I regret to inform you that I am taking that fund with the $12.47 in it that was for you and giving it to Otis to buy T-Shirts for little orphan squirrels. You had your chance and you blew it!

Otis sends his thanks!

Regards!

Big bulky FF cameras? Not so much when mirrorless:
  • FujiFilm X-T1 is 2% (2.1 mm) wider and 5% (4.6 mm) shorter than Sony A7.
  • FujiFilm X-T1 is 3% (1.5 mm) thinner than Sony A7.
  • FujiFilm X-T1 [440 g] weights 7% (34 grams) less than Sony A7 [474 g] (*inc. batteries and memory card).
